What's the difference between early and mid-stage ACL rehab?
Before we dive into it, it's important to remember that every ACL journey looks different - and should! Progression at a rate that makes the most sense for you, your body, and your specific needs is paramount to successful rehab.
Early rehab for an ACL injury is largely centered around regaining appropriate mobility of the knee joint and other joints of the lower extremity, quad strength and loading of the muscles of the lower extremity, and the introduction of single leg work.
Progression to mid-stage ACL rehab involves more challenging single-leg tasks, lower extremity strength through bigger ranges of motion placing more demand on the muscles, and the introduction of more dynamic exercises.
