This is a simple method for water effects using acrylic gloss medium, and multiple thin layers over a flat sealed and painted surface. The key is to allow each layer to dry before applying the next. I paint the sealed surface the color I want (usually dark olive green) and then apply the gloss medium with subsequent thin coats over top of the painted surface. Each subsequent (clear gloss) layer adds greater depth and brilliance to the finish.
