As requested, I have received many questions about how I build up scenery. This video is a revisit on Model Railroad Benchwork and Basic Scenery Construction for a Shelf Layout Style Model Railroad. It's an older r clip with some current content edited in as It includes some recent pics of the finished section In which I talk about.
There are many mediums in which to build a model railroad of any size. I prefer foam and birch plywood with frames as it provides a stable platform and resists warping and movement once it climatizes to the environment. Furthermore, I like to use Cork, Balsa wood and Foam on top of plywood for building up track right-of-way and hilly terrain. The benefits being it is easy to chip and carve, and takes most water - based paints and other mediums well.
