Hey guys, welcome back to the channel. You won't believe how excited I am to paint on a fresh canvas. If you've noticed, the past videos i have been painting over an older canvas because this particular size has been out of stock for close to two months. It doesn't help that I have 700+ painted canvas sitting in the store room, and I kinda grew out of fondness for some of them. Hence, it kind of made sense to just repaint them.
So, for today's video, I was in the mood for some neon lights and cityscapes. This light in motion theme is a subject that I enjoy painting since a couple of months ago. I will obsess over a certain stye for a period of time until I get bored of painting it before moving over to the next one.
I wanted to capture the city when it's about to be quiet but not completely still. Something like a long night walk during closing time.
A rose in the middle became a little too predicable, so I tried to resist adding one, but I couldn't. I just could not refrain myself from adding it. Didn't feel complete without it. So I made some minor adjustments, to toss it up a little by turning it into a rose bud instead.
I'm still trying to fine tune this style, but i like the way it extends a single moment into a flowing visual narrative. The trails suggest the path of movement and the passage of time, transforming ordinary scenes into representations of motion that leaves room for the imagination.
