Abraham Lincoln had an intermittent hypertropia (strabismus). Every once in a while if he would get tired or excited, his left eye would turn up. This condition can cause double vision, and may be the reason why he tilted his head in order to keep his vision single. Historians theorize he may have had Marfan Syndrome, a condition that affects the connective tissue in the body, causes very tall and thin stature, and is linked to strabismus. Luckily, prism glasses can be used to help with symptoms, as well as eye surgery to correct the eye muscles.
