... as for why you can not buy armor pieces that you aren't able to sell, it is kind of logical: if a player would buy a couple of duplicates they would be stuck with them forever with no way to declutter their inventory. I'm just not sure why those items aren't sellable in the first place.

Is it because the player needs them for story progression? This would be kind of true for the Zora armor chestpiece, but not the flippers or headgear, and it is also true for the Gerudo Vai set and you can sell that just fine. And you don't actually "need" the Champions' Tunic and Thunder Helm for anything story-related.

Is it because they are unique quest rewards not handed out anywhere else? The same would be true for the Rubber Helmet. Granté is the only one selling it, and they could have just opted to make him sell the Zora set too.

Is it because they are unique artifacts important to the lore / important NPCs? That also applies to things like Midna's Helmet and the Island Lobster Shirt, and you can sell both .. and buy as many duplicates as you want.

Is it because they're not dyable anyway? True for the Champions' Tunic and Thunder Helmet, but not true for the Zora set as you CAN dye it. And you can NOT dye amiibo / DLC armor pieces but sell them anywhere.

Is it because they have unique effects? Kind of true for the Zora Armor chestpiece and helmet, as they grant you the ability to climb waterfalls and do a spin attack in water respectively, but the Zora Greaves don't do anything unique, the HP display of the Champions' Tunic is also present for the Divine Beast Helmets and the Thunder Helm does the same as the twice upgraded Rubber set once you unlocked the "unshockable" bonus.

Seriously, I have no idea why these items were singled out as "too special to be sold".

PS: IIRC you can also not sell the Armor of the Wild set, but since you obtain all 3 pieces from chests, they are "safe" just like any other chest items.
