Here's the last five minutes of a broadcast of Good Morning America as aired over WLS Channel 7, hosted by Joan Lunden, and Hugh Downs who was filling in for David Hartman.

A Fuzzy Personal Videotape Collecting Remembrance: This was one of the very first tapes that I found, which began my hobby. I got it at the old Maxwell Street open-air markets probably around 1990 or 1991. Hard to believe this tape was only about 10 or 11 years old at the time - even though when I first viewed it the contents seemed like a lifetime ago.

Includes:

The last few seconds of an interview Joan has with Richard Thomas (a.k.a. John-Boy Walton on The Waltons) whose wife, Alma, had given birth to three triplet daughters on Wednesday, the 26th, after which Joan signals for a commercial break, and preview of Monday's show with guests Susan Saint James and Patty Duke Astin, and over the coming week John Denver

Commercials for:

Sara Lee - "Bake Sale"

Century 21 - "The Gold Jacket"

Lee Jeans - "Comfort Stretch with Lycra"

Resolution appetite control capsules - from Lee Pharmaceuticals

Hugh and Joan preview Monday's show as they end the program, and he announces his intention to head off to President Reagan's birth place of Tampico, IL

Very brief ABC network slide

Robb Weller promotes upcoming AM Chicago with guests Steve Dahl and Garry Meier

Commercials for:

MCI long distance

Venture - 20%-40% off on "Back to School, Back to Savings - Back to Style"

Aunt Jemima French Toast (in a scene reminiscent of one from “Kramer Vs. Kramer)

Station ID / promo for The Eyewitness Newsmagazine at 4:30pm (with Mary Ann Childers)

This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, August 28th 1981 between approximately 8:55am and 9:00am.

If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!
