This is perhaps a lesser known work by this household name in American classical music. Copland's choral work In the Beginning (1947) was commissioned for the Symposium on Music Criticism at Harvard University. The result is this stunningly beautiful a cappella representation of the creation story. Each part of the text is expressed appropriately as the music unfolds with a sound that could only come from Copland.
