Fancy an artsy tattoo?
The kurbits is a traditional ornament from the Dalarna province – a fantasy plant with curling vines and big blossoms. Back in the 18th century, village artisans began painting it on walls, doors, and furniture.
The name comes from the Latin word 'cucurbita' ('pumpkin') as many thought the flowers looked like, well, pumpkins! In depictions, the kurbits is often seen growing from a vase, reaching upward in warm colors.
The kurbits today features in textile design and on the famous Dala horse. 🇸🇪 And, of course, in tattoos!
