Critical Issues Commentary | A Review of Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets, Part 27 – The True Kairos Time to Pray @CICministry | Uploaded January 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
Dutch Sheets uses an incomplete definition of the Greek word kairos in his misinterpretation of Ephesians 6:18-20 to teach that believers need new revelations from the Holy Spirit to thwart Satan’s attacks through prayer at specific times. Bob DeWaay correctly explains the term kairos and cites the many examples of how Paul uses kairos in the New Testament. He then addresses Ephesians 6:18-20 to show that the kairos time in this passage is the church age, and that the prayer is for gospel boldness during the persecution that exists throughout the church age. This passage is not about inner promptings to pray for protection from Satan at specific times. Believers all throughout the church age are under attack, and therefore, we pray for gospel boldness at all times.
This is a critique of Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets, Bethany House, 1996.
