Critical Issues Commentary | John the Baptist and Prophets to Nations, Part 6 @CICministry | Uploaded December 2020 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
In this episode we discuss the rulers of this world and our relationship to them as Christians. Though often the rulers of this world are wicked, Romans 13:1-7 tells us that they are established by God to restrain evil, and we are to submit to them unless they are forbidding something God commands or commanding something God forbids. While the prophets under the old covenant sometimes rebuked the civil authorities, our prophetic calling is to preach the gospel. We discuss the apostle Paul, showing that he appealed to his Roman citizenship and that when he spoke to governing authorities, he preached the gospel.
