In my recent series of videos on the STE536 I wanted to test compatibility booting floppy games. Unfortunately I have few of these on real floppies any more and my external Gotek is always Drive B.
I performed a recent mod on my STFM to swap drive A and B around with as switch, but unfortunately a similarly trivial mod can't be done for the STE.
But what about something half way there...?

Old PLCC sockets tend to produce bad contacts after a while. Either simply through age, use or abuse (see my DIP STE adapter and PiStorm STE videos!)
The correct answer is to replace or retension the sockets as the sprung contacts have been pushed back over time.
However theres a much faster workaround for a short-term win.
Dont rely on this for your space probe, though...
