Mario's Journal:
Day 5
Those fuzzies were taking all the koopas' shells! I managed to retrieve a few of them. A few of the fuzzies tried to grab my hat, but I fought them off. Goombario noticed that there was a commotion happening at one of the houses. When we got there, we saw a koopa fighting a fuzzy that had taken a blue shell.
The fuzzy ran away as soon as it saw us. The koopa's name is Kooper. He was excited to meet me, but he was embarrassed that he didn't have his shell on. I told him we'd go get it for him. We followed the fuzzy into the nearby woods. The fuzzies were hiding in the trees. I threw Goombario into the trees and he kicked down the blue shell.
I caught it just as Kooper had made it to where we were. He was happy to have his shell back. Kooper then told us about his neighbor, Professor Kolorado, and how he inspired him to become an adventurer. So naturally, Kooper asked to come along with us. Merlon did say I'd need the help of a blue-shelled koopa, maybe he was talking about Kooper!
I told Kooper he could tag along. Goombario was happy to have him along as well. Kooper actually saved our lives there since the fuzzies weren't too happy about being beaten and tried to attack us with our backs turned. Kooper fought them all off with amazing skill. Those fuzzies won't be bothering the village anymore.
We set out for the Koopa Bros. Fortress this morning. We learned from the villagers that several bob-ombs who worked for the Koopa Bros. have escaped and live here now. They told me there's more of them who haven't escaped. Well, it looks like we'll be saving more than just the Star Spirit. I also brought Kooper up to speed on what our mission is. He is more than willing to help us save the Star Spirits and Peach.
Kooper was able to reach the switch for the bridge, but I had to kick him over there. He was fine with it though. It helped. The fortress itself looked intimidating, but it can't be as bad as what we'll have to face in Bowser's castle.
The Koopa Bros. know we're here. Already we've had to deal with koopas and bob-ombs who remain loyal to them. Kooper and Goombario fought well alongside me. Although, I wish we took the time to slow down and check for traps. I guess we were all so anxious to find the Star Spirit that we didn't notice the trap the Koopa Bros. had set.
We fell right into a prison cell full of bob-ombs.
