Did mangroves save lives? 🌿🌊

After the devastating 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, scientists noticed something remarkable. Areas protected by mangrove forests suffered far less destruction.

That single observation helped change public perception and has since slowed the wholesale clearing of mangroves in Indonesia.
