Hi everyone. i'm on High Street Bangor Co Down at Beatrice Avenue and I just stumbled across this wonderful portrait mural.

I did a bit of research online and discovered mural photographer Paddy Duffy had been here before me. I've used some of his notes in the information below and added a few of my own.

“In loving memory of Davy Wilsdon”
– This is a portrait of Handsome Dave or Davy Wilsdon. Davy appears to have been a member of the Somme Memorial flute band in Bangor. I believe he died in January, 2022. (funeral service on youtube). The band sponsored a memorial bench in Davy Wilsdon’s honour in the village of Mesnil-Martinsart, France ( Street View | see also Ulster Tower).
This is his portrait painted by London artist Olivier Roubieu on Beatrice Avenue/High Street, Bangor, replacing the painting of Terry Bradley’s, Don’t Look Back.
According to the guys in the Help Computer Centre next door, Davy Wilsdon was a well known Bangor architect, who had a hand in building the likes of Springhill shopping centre. The landlord of the shop was a good friend and had London street artist Olivier Roubieu paint this excellent mural on the gable wall of the Help Computer shop premises, in his memory.
What a kind gesture!
