An Order of Australia medal has been stripped from the former Department of Home Affairs boss Michael Pezzullo.

Finance Minister Katy Gallagher said it is “a matter for the council” and has “trust” in the decision made.

“They’ve had a look at it, they’ve considered it against their criteria, and they’ve made a recommendation to the Governor General,” Ms Gallagher told Sky News Australia.
