Sky News can reveal the prime minister is not intending to bring any tax reform agenda to the next election.
This comes amid speculation caused by revelations that Treasurer Jim Chalmer sought advice on negative gearing changes.
“A lot of the week in politics has been dominated by this story that Sky News broke Tuesday morning around the Prime Minister’s purchase of a $4.3 million house at Copacabana on the Central Coast,” Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said.
“Some backbenchers do see this story as a challenge because previously the prime minister had benefited from his story of growing up in social housing, and it made him ‘one of them’ ordinary Australians.”
