Finance Minister Katy Gallagher says ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr ran a “great campaign” and has been a “very effective long-term chief minister”.

The Labor Party has been re-elected for the seventh consecutive term in the Australian Capital Territory.

“The ACT community is a pretty progressive place, so I don’t think it’s unusual that you’d see a fairly progressive parliament with a minority government supported by a crossbench,” Ms Gallagher told Sky News Australia.
