The ending to The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is one of the most iconic scenes in film history. Starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Walach, and directed by Sergio Leone, the movie is rated as one of the greatest westerns ever, it wasn't filmed in the American West, or even in the United States at all. Instead it was filmed in Spain, using the Spanish countryside as a stand in for 1860s New Mexico.
The films end sees the three main characters meet up at the Sad Hill Cemetery as the look for the Confederate gold, and take part in one of the most famous duels in film history.
The cemetery was built in 1966 by the Spanish army, and restored in 2015, and looks almost as amazing as it did on film.
In this video we start out in Madrid, Spain, and take a road trip two and a half hours to the north where we experience some of the amazing scenery Spain has to offer, as well as some of it's history, including traveling the same route as El Cid for a bit. Then we explore the Sad Hill Cemetery as it stands today.
