Hey all, I have an important announcement regarding Re-imagined.
Considering the lack of updates for so long, the announcement I’m about to make probably isn’t that surprising, though it will likely be very disappointing to many of you. To cut to the chase, I’ve decided to officially cease the development of Sonic Forces Re-imagined, and the current release will be the last one for the foreseeable future. As it stands, the mod has already stalled out for almost a year since the Alpha 1.1 release in 2025. I haven’t done any work since, aside from some half-baked attempts at refactoring Red Gate Bridge that didn’t go anywhere.
There’s plenty of reasons I could mention for why development fizzled out, but what it comes down to is that I lost interest, along with other people that worked on it. Personally, I held out hope for a while that I would want to start working again, but between lingering burnout, the daunting scope of the mod and declining motivation for many reasons, I’ve decided to just bring Re-imagined to a close instead of leaving this project as a loose end indefinitely and letting it continue to weigh on my mind. However, I’ll still leave the possibility of a future continuation open if I feel like it - maybe things will get better and I’ll change my mind in the future. I’m not gonna make any promises.
So, what’s next? Overclocked 2.0 is still a thing, and I am somewhat involved in it, but to a lesser extent than 1.0. Still, you can expect to see some things I’ve been working on there once it comes out. Overall, I think I am done with Forces. I’m just kind of tired of the game, in every sense of the word. It’s possible I will continue to work on Sonic projects, and I’ve had some interest and ideas floating around with Shadow Generations for a while now, but I won’t promise I’ll start anything new either.
As a consolation for all this, I’ve decided to showcase the last blockout version of Red Gate Bridge and release it as-is. The extension is pretty much fully playable and I redesigned a few parts from the video that I previously uploaded, but it's still a pretty janky and awkward mess.
Lastly, I want to thank everyone that has watched my videos, played the mod, and gave feedback and support these past 8 years. I’m grateful for it all, and the project would have never gotten as far as it did without it. And it was an honor to work with my talented co-developers, particularly The Duck Dealer; she added many elements to the mod that became its defining points for a lot of people. Since she’s also been going through some financial struggles lately, I figured I’ll share her Ko-fi below for anyone that’s able to give some support.
That’s about everything, so I’ll see you all in the future.
