Elena Rybakina said on Saturday that she's "very confident" that the foot injury she suffered at the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati ten days ago has healed and that she will be able to compete at the upcoming US Open.
Speaking to reporters at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City, Rybakina said she was happy with the way that her team has helped in her recovery and that preparations for the last grand slam event of the year are on track.
"We worked hard and likely it's all good right now, and it's just matter of couple more practices, and then, yeah, going on the match," she said. "I just feel like it's just few more days and I should be very fine."
The Kazakh number two seed, who has two grand slam titles to her name, but has never gone past the fourth round in New York, is scheduled to be on court on Tuesday for her first round match against 17 year-old American wild card Thea Frodin.
