Double decreases (three stitches become one) sound intimidating in double layer knitting. Here I show how to separate the layers and place the stitches side by side with one another to make the arrangement of the stitches straightforward for the decrease operation. This is shown both for normal stitch mount and with alternatively mounted purl stitches. The resulting near layer decrease has the left stitch on top, and the far layer decrease has the right stitch on top. I chose to have the two different slopes as these seemed the easiest arrangement of stitches and the two types of decrease are not visible at the same time.
