Now that the thumb is long enough it's time for the decreases and then to gather the remaining stitches closed. As the two sides will never been seen simultaneously it is not necessary to align the outer and inner stitches so as to slope the same way (eg right sloping on the front, left sloping on the back) just use whichever decrease you find easiest for the outer and inner layers and be consistent all the way around.
