All Things 3D | 8K 'Google 180' of Neil Armstrong @ the "Little West Crater" in "Excursion: 137 Minutes on the Moon" @allthings3d | Uploaded 3 years ago | Updated 3 hours ago
Here is a 8K Google 180 (3D) demo video captured from one of the six brief cinematic sequences during Neil Armstrong & Buzz Armstrong's lunar excursion. Here we see Neil Armstrong on the ridge of the "Little West Crater" as he takes a few panoramic while Buzz Aldrin heads back to Eagle finishing up his excursion.
This is part of the "Apollo 11: 'One Small Step For...' VR Experiences" series, titled "Excursion: 137 Minutes on the Moon" to be out this holiday on Steam VR, Oculus, and Vive Port. In the actual VR experience you can move around, pick up rocks, work with the tools & test equipment and even take pictures using your chest mounted Hasselblad EL500 camera that you can make appear/disappear with press of a button. Images are stored on your hard drive so you can send them to your friends to, you know, prove that you were on the moon.
This 360 capture was done with 'Surreal Capture' a tool that allows you to capture 360 , stereo SBS video directly from any Unreal Engine game or VR experience in real time at 7680 x 3840 with varying sample rates. It also works great even during development while in the editor. Sadly stereo 360 capture is not implemented yet (coming soon) but it is easy to get at least true stereo for 180 degrees by using the horizontal offset variable and inserting 6. Captures most Post Processing effects, except Exposure/Eye Adaption. Working with the developer to correct this if possible. surrealcapture.com
