1. The Harlem Globetrotters (I wasn't able to determine the exact date this first section was recorded but presumably during the first week of January, 1980 just after the New Year)

3. WXIA Channel 11 News Bumper (At the time there was a bill being floated to teach creation in Georgia's public schools alongside evolution which will be mentioned in later videos)

a. Rat problem in Atlanta getting worse (Atlanta still ranks among the top 20 problem rat cities in the U.S.)
b. Woman murdered in Marietta, GA (Be prepared for some grisly and sometimes depressing crime reporting with these Star Trek tapes...Atlanta was not exactly a safe city back then)
c. Talks underway between Dep. Sec. of State Warren Christopher and Allies over Soviet invasion of Afghanistan
d. UN Security council adopts resolution for economic sanctions against Iran (This was the second month of the Iran hostage crisis: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_hostage_crisis . Most of these sanctions were lifted following the Algiers Accords in early 1981 which resolved the crisis)
5. Superstar Marvin Gaye (Such a tragedy that he died so young and at the hand of his own father)

19. Promo for "Hal Suit's Special Edition" (Hal Suit was a news personality and former anchorman for WSB in Atlanta who did opinion pieces for WXIA at the time. He ran unsuccessfully for the Governor of Georgia in 1970 as a Republican, losing to Jimmy Carter)

c. Former Sec. of State Dean Rusk advises Carter on Soviet invasion of Afghanistan
d.
