Hello, and welcome to 80/20’s product highlight series. Today we’re going to take a look at flanged mount casters. These casters are great for making applications mobile. They come in a variety of styles including swivel and non swivel, braking and non braking, and a wide variety of sizes. They’re available in fractional and metric, and compatible across a wide range of profile series.

They require no machining, and can be used with, or without, a base plate. Regardless of your choice, a bolt assembly is required. More information on 80/20’s recommended bolt assemblies can be found in the 80/20 product catalog. Now, for our example, we are going to show you how to use a base plate to install your caster.

We’ve already got our base plate assembled onto the profile, we’ll take our caster. We’ll line up the holes on the caster with the ones on the baseplate. We’ll take our bolts, and one by one, tighten them down with our wrench. Once you have those tightened down, you have a strong secure connection for your caster. It’s also worth noting, that is comes in a triangle corner style, like this one here.

Today were going to take a look at the structural pivots. This connection method allows bars to be positioned along a wide variety of angles. Theyre easy to install and are available in both fractional, metric, and are compatible across a wide range of profile series. Now when it comes to using the structural pivot, you have a few options to choose from. The first choice is how you receive your part. The structural pivot can be purchased as stand-alone parts, or as a preassembled part, ready to install, as seen here. Now the next thing youll want to consider is the alignment of the pivot nub, and how it sits on the profile. The nub comes in two styles, you have the 90 degree and you have the 0 degree, the only difference being the orientation to the bar. Now regardless of your choices, the pivot nub will need additional bolt assemblies for mounting. More information on 80/20s recommended bolt assemblies can be found in the 80/20 product catalog. Now when it comes to installing the structural pivot, the first thing youll want to do is preload your hardware. Preloading not only makes it easier to install your structural pivot, but also saves time during assembly. Now the first thing Im going to do is take the structural pivot and put one last bolt and one last T-nut in it. Its important to know when youre installing your T-nuts, to have the pilot projection facing downwards. Once we have that ready to go, well take our first bar, and slide the pivot nub right onto it. Once weve found our location well take our wrench, and tighten that into place. From there we are ready for our next bar, and well slide it right onto the arms of the structural pivot. Well take our wrench and tighten down that hardware. Now the last thing well want to do is find the angle that we want our bar at. Once weve found that well tighten down the pivot bolts. Today we’re going to take a look at the leveling caster. This caster is great for applications that require level surfaces, but also may need to move from time to time. It’s available in fractional and metric, and across a wide range of profile series. This caster can be installed on the end of a profile, or on the side of it. Regardless on how you decide to mount it, a bolt assembly and a base plate will be required. More information on 80/20’s recommended bolt assemblies can be found in the 80/20 product catalog. Now for our example, we decided to mount it on the side of the profile. We’ve already got our base plate mounted on there. So we’re going to take our caster, flip it upside down and we’ll line up the holes on the caster, with the ones on the base plate. From there, we’ll take our bolts, and thread them in there one by one. Now once we have those tightened down. The great feature about this caster, is that when you need it to move, you can use the wheel on the back and when you need a level surface, you just adjust the caster to lower the leveling foot, and you have your leveling foot. Today were going to take a look at the double anchor fastener. What makes the double anchor fastener so popular is its unmatched strength. Its available in fractional, metric, and is compatible across a wide range of profile series. The double anchor fastener comes in five parts; you have two cams, two bolts, and a double T-nut. Now one thing youll want to keep in mind when using the double anchor fastener; youll need a counterbore service in two sides of your bar. More information on the counterbore service can be found in the 80/20 product catalog. Now when it comes to installing the double anchor fastener, youre going to start with your bolts. Take your bolts, put them into your cams. At that point, youre going to take your bar with the counterbore machined into it, and place the cams into the counterbores. Next, grab your double T-nut. Place it on the end of the bolts, take your wrench and slightly engage the T-nuts into the threads. At that point we are ready for our other bar. Were going to slide the double anchor fastener into the bar, and find our desired location. At that point, take your T-wrench, and tighten down firmly. Now the great thing about the double anchor fastener is its adjustability. If you need a new location on the bar, simply loosen up the double anchor fastener, and slide it anywhere along the bar. Once you found your new location, tighten down, and youre good to go. At this point, we have a strong, secure, vibration-proof connection, good for any load-bearing application. Today we’re going to take a look at panel gasket. It helps fill the gap between panel and t-slot, cutting down on noise and vibration. It’s easy to install and available in both fractional and metric. Now when it comes to installing panel gasket, you’re just going to need your clippers. So we’ll move our frame here, get it into place, and we’ll grab our panel gasket, we’ve already got it cut to length, now I’m just going to cut it at a 45 degree angle and what that’s going to do is allow our panel gasket pieces to meet in the corner nice and flush. We’ll just start by placing it right into the open T-slot between the panel and the bar itself. Just slightly push down and work your way across, and once I’m done with that, I’m going to repeat the process all the way around the frame. Now you’re only going to need to do this on one side, and once you are done with that, it should cut down on a lot of noise and vibration in your panel.
