Today were going to take a look at a vast selection of T-nuts that 80/20 offers. 80/20s T-nuts come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and finishes to suit your projects needs. Theyre available in fractional, metric, and compatible across a wide range of profile series. Now the first style of T-nut were going to talk about is the standard economy slide-in T-nut. This is one of the more popular options that 80/20 offers and comes standard in most recommended bolt assemblies. Now as the name suggests, it simply slides in from the side of the profile. Now however, you want to make sure that the pilot projection is facing downwards, or towards the middle of the profile. Now, the great thing about this T-nut is that you can substitute out a single T-nut sometimes for a double and a triple T-nut to save you time on your build. Now, lets say that, that doesnt work and you are farther along in your project, or its completely finished and you want to add something on later, and you cant access the end of your profile. Thats where our next two options come into play. The first one, is the drop in T-nut; simply drop it in anywhere in the open T-slot, and lock it into place, like so. Now one other option we have is a roll in T-nut. It serves the same purpose, but just like it sounds, it rolls into the open T-slot. Now when we are using this, we have a few different options. We have T-nuts with a set screw, a flex handle, a ball spring, or a spring leaf. Now although all these look different, they all serve the same purpose, and that is to hold themselves into place, despite the orientation of the bar. Now one last T-nut were going to talk about is the self-aligning T-nut. This one helps fills any open space in the T-slot, and helps you line up your bolts a lot easier during install. Today were going to take a look at the enclosed corner bracket. Theyre easy to install, require no machining, and are available in both fractional and metric. When using it, you have a choice. The enclosed corner bracket can be used as a stand alone fastening method, or to reinforce another fastening method. Here you can see a small sample of the enclosed corner brackets that 80/20 offers. Now one thing youre going to want to keep in mind when using the enclosed corner bracket is youll need bolt assemblies to install it. Recommended bolt assemblies for all enclosed brackets can be found in the 80/20 product catalog. Now when it comes to installing the enclosed corner bracket, the first thing youre going to want to do is preload your hardware. Preloading not only makes it easier to install your bracket, but also saves you time during assembly. Now to get started, well take this bracket and put one last bolt and one last T-nut into it. Now its important when youre putting the T-nut in, to make sure the pilot projection is facing away from the bracket. Get that right on there. Well take our first bar and slide the bracket right on. Well get that into place. Well take our other bar and slide it on to the other half of the bracket. Once we have all that lined up, well take our wrench, and simply tighten down the bolts. From here we have a strong, secure, external connection. Now one last option you may want to consider is a cover cap. It’s easy to install, available in both fractional and metric, and compatible across a wide range of profile series. However, a bolt assembly will be required. More information on 80/20’s recommended bolt assemblies can be found in the 80/20 product catalog. Now to install it. We’ll take our block, put a bolt and Tnut on it. Get that on there. Take our profile, and drop our block right into the profile. We’ll just tighten that down with our wrench. From there, we’ll just take our gravity roller, and rest it right into the block.
