75 mph Drone Chase Over Tucson!
This video describes an incident between an unknown drone/drone operator and a Customs and Border Patrol helicopter and a Tucson Police Department helicopter. A drone was spotted over Tucson around 10:30 pm on February 9, 2021. The drone chased a CBP helicopter as well as a TPD helicopter called in to assist.
The interaction between the two helicopters and the drone lasted around 70 minutes until the drone disappeared into the clouds and the helicopters had to land to refuel. The FBI and FAA are now investigating.
I also remind viewers that the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018 made it a Federal crime to conduct an unsafe operation of an unmanned aircraft. I discuss the first person convicted under this act, Andrew Rene Hernandez, who flew his drone into a collision with a Los Angeles Police Dept helicopter on Sept 18, 2020.
