B.R Britannia Class 70000 'Britannia' is seen running from Highley to Kidderminster on a period of extensive running in turns on the Severn Valley Railway. With the railway closed for maintenance the Loco was able to do plenty of runs over the last week. An interesting set of coaches was chosen to provide the load and these were in the form of ex Caladonian sleeper mark three coaches with a couple of ex GWR coaches too. The sleeper set is owned by LSL as is the locomotive. Steam locos attached to mark three coaches is rare and surely the addition of sleepers with steam is a preservation first ? While not the prettiest rolling stock to look at or photograph the idyllic landscapes of the Severn Valley help to brighten up the proceedings and its great to see Britannia finally back and we now look forward to seeing her back on the mainline.
