A midweek jaunt to York for the early festivities is always popular and with a Great Western Castle upfront this one is always worth seeing. As this excursion was local we didn't need to travel far to capture some high speed steam action. The Birmingham to Derby mainline has always been a favourite stretch of line due to it's racetrack nature among the Tyseley steam crews. Just five quick shots for this video with the first three showcasing that Castle power. The final two scenes were captured near the end of the trip and which showcase a more sedate pace but still the Great Western looking good under the station lights.
This excursion runs again next week and it's hoped that 60163 Tornado will do the honours but it isn't looking promising as the A1 should of come back on last night's train with 5043. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the video.
