Wout12345 | 60 minute map development: Enigma village - Minecraft @Wout12345 | Uploaded 9 years ago | Updated 1 hour ago
At the end of the second week of the tournament, I quickly try to throw together a puzzle map based on the themes "nostalgia" and "community". Community can be interpreted and incorporated in a variety of ways, nostalgia however is another story. After some thought I decided to go for some kind of "middle route", with this map referencing something both custom map players and I may have memories of, even if they're not the fondest: Enigma island, a puzzle map made by Yiker in 2011 and also the first custom map I ever played (and thoroughly enjoyed).
How will we incorporate such an extensive map into one we can build in 60 minutes? By taking one of its puzzle, making it larger and adding some twists to this. This week, actually done in 60 minutes, no discussions about too much/not too much overtime. :P
Also, last week my entry didn't make it into the top 3/4, which is understandable of course since there were two things which basically broke the gameplay and had to be fixed using cheats. Rsmalec said that apart from that, it was pretty good in his opinion, so I'll probably stick with this strategy for now. :)
