Wout12345 | 1000 Subscriber special: IFSS-1 (100x100 flush and seamless) - Minecraft @Wout12345 | Uploaded 9 years ago | Updated 3 hours ago
It's time. Finally. As I said in August, I'd do something special for the 1000 subscriber mark and this should count. The IFSS-1 took me over 100 hours to produce, spanning 50 days. Afterwards, dozens of hours of testing and even more to create this video. At this point, this is both the most complex redstone project and video I've ever made ... In the end, I'm quite proud of it.
IFSS-1 stands for infinitely expandable, flush, seamless and stable door. Infinite in the sense that the design is practically the same with dimensions such as 10x10 compared to the 100x100 one shown in this video. It's expandable along the horizontal axis as long as you can keep the machine loaded and expandable along the vertical axis up to a maximal door height of 106. However, this is because of the sky limit, which would limit any expandable machine, so I don't consider this an issue. It's flush and seamless in the sense that ... well, it's set up against a wall next to a floor, and the inside is entirely smooth in the opened state. Stable? This is a term I thought would apply here. All it means is that the blocks keep their position if you open and close it. This wasn't a big challenge, but rather something I had to bare in mind while designing this contraption.
The testing and recording parts were also greatly shortened thanks to a mod made by Panda4994 which can affect the Minecraft tickspeed. What also helped a lot was MCEdit, an external program developed by Codewarrior, whose basic block manipulation functions (move, clone, stack, ...) helped a lot in easily modifying parts of the machine on the fly. The content was also partially inspired by RedstoneJazz: although I've had the concept for a slimestone expandable flush door for almost a year now, his quarrytech uses a design method, paradigm you could say, a variation of which I ended up going with with all of my flying machines.
