Alright, so there are really only 4 supplies you need for plastic canvas needlepoint, and two are optional add ons that just make things easier.
💛 Plastic Canvas is the heart of your needlepointing project. It comes in a range of sizes from the smallest at 14 mesh, up to 10 mesh, then the most common 7 mesh and finally the largest 5 mesh.
🪡 A Tapestry Needle is essential for stitching. You'll want a blunt, round tip so it moves smoothly through the canvas and yarn without snagging or getting your fingers in the process.
🧶 Yarn is going to be stitched through the holes of the canvas to create your pattern. There are so many fun options out there too with the most common being acrylic yarn as it's affordable and comes in a huge range of colors. Depending on the mesh size, that will determine the weight of your yarn, for example, 7 mesh uses worsted weight size 4 yarn.
✂️ Scissors are needed to trim your strands of yarn, but also for cutting the canvas to the size and/or shape. I like to use large, all purpose scissors, but any size you're comfortable with works.
🧰 Jewelry Pliers are optional, but boy, do they make it so much easier on your fingers and hand when securing your finishing tail end on the backside.
💜 A Tape Measure is also optional, but on simple shaped projects, when you don't feel like counting your canvas, you can measure! The size of the canvas is equal to how many holes equal 1" so in 7 mesh, 7 holes are equal to 1".
