「 AMV 」 Roseboy - Link Click xSnowflakes 2023-10-18 | SPOILERS FOR LINK CLICK SEASON 2Turn CC on for lyrics and quote translationsI had the idea to pair this song with link click for several months, and it took a deadline for an IC for me to actually start it! I didn't meet the deadline for the IC lol but a month later and here it is! Also finished it in celebration/a good bye to Link Click Season 2 and the angst we have to live with until Season 3. The song is a special one. It was originally by Jolin Tsai who wrote it to pay tribute to a boy who was bullied for being too effeminate and was found lying dead in the school bathroom, in a pool of blood. It's such an empowering song and the lyrics are chefs kiss. I had heard Mayday's cover of it before the original actually, and I was imagining scenes of link click to it. I looked into the lyrics more and realised that it could fit really well! I interpreted the lyrics as matching the ways in which CXS (main character with black hair) switches into different bodies in the past, and wishes to save the people he occupies. That level of empathy is so clear in the lyrics of the song. The video is all about CXS's well wishes and love for the people he connects with, and his own self-sacrifices along the way. As the lyrics suggest, even the most beautiful of roses has thorns - like how CXS's empathy and desire to save everyone has a cost. 「 AMV 」Otherworldly - Cyberpunk Edgerunners xSnowflakes 2023-07-30 | A couple of weeks ago I joined a week long Font IC, and was assigned two fonts to use - one of them was Jumpers (fontspace.com/jumpers-font-f99285). This is a really futuristic looking font and I thought the series that would work best was a series I hadn't seen fully yet - Cyberpunk Edgerunners. So, I finished the series and edited what I could that week. My overall vision was a cyberpunk-futuristic aesthetic to match the font. Obviously soo ambitious and impossible for my timeframe, but what's the fun in being simple and straight-forward? I've always wanted to edit a futuristic-cyberpunk aesthetic edit, and this was fun to try and achieve. And also to practice using fonts too. Still, You Drown - Kaz Brekker MV xSnowflakes 2023-04-25 | Spoilers for S2 of Shadow and BoneA video I worked on slowly for the past month after finishing the new season (I finished Shadow and Bone after the first week because I was away for a bit, so this is late too) ~ Kanej scenes and Kaz were the best thing this season and if we don't get a spinoff, then at least we got these scenes.When I thought of this combination I couldn't get it out of my head. Especially that "You thought vengeance was the answer, and still you drown" - with the lyrics in the song "Or will you drown me out?" I've also not seen many videos that use the hallucination quotes and it's such a good opportunity (pretty much the only thing I liked that was series original lol)This video is about Kaz fulfilling his goals for vengeance but not being satisfied about it. And that the only one who can pull him out of that isn't satisfied with him. (-angsts-) But of course in the books there are other deeper reasons why they aren't ready to accept each other yet. Sinners Like Us - collab w/ @Kaeldri xSnowflakes 2023-02-21 | So I listened to the @EtherealTeam IC pack last week and I immediately fell in love with the Globus song - and naturally had to ask if Amy (Kaeldri) wanted to collab to edit it. After brainstorming we were set on games, and on two sources - Genshin and Xenoblade 3. Scaramouche's story was a perfect fit for the lyrics in my eyes, and I decided to use Raiden Shogun as well to make parallels and increase the conflicts~ I don't know Xenoblade but my collab partner honestly made it work so well - I love her parts, and it was super fun to hit the heavies in this song and go with the flow. 「 GMV 」Deal with God - Life is Strange Tribute xSnowflakes 2022-12-04 | This week's POE theme was "Pokemon elements", and I had an instant click to use one of my favourite game series. I finally got to do a tribute! This video uses the "psychic" type as its core, and I focused on the three LiS characters that acquire powers - Max (time-travel), Daniel (telekinesis), and Alex (emotion/empathy). In that order, the Pokemon in mind could be considered to be Celebi - Time Travel, Mew Two - Telekinesis and Mesprit - Emotion. I tried to focus on their relationships with their family, friends and lovers, and how they each deal with their powers - hopefully it didn't turn out too messy and divert too much? But it was so fun to do and especially a blast to put their quotes together! 「 MMV 」Never Learned How This Works - Our Dreams At Dusk xSnowflakes 2022-11-21 | I gave up on editing POE all week but then I was listening to Spotify, and this song came up. I knew it was a perfect fit for this manga and this week's Project Org Round 3 theme, plus it was a manga that I'd wanted to edit to all year. So, something possessed me to edit this over the weekend. x__xI spent about an hour or so today changing a few things from my entry, so I spent about 22 hours masking and editing this in total. It's not perfect but I'm happy with how it turned out given the time. I have a few more ideas with this manga that I'll do one day.. but for now I'm satisfied that I managed to edit this manga before the end of the year~. But I'm definitely editing it again in the near future!This manga is so good - only 23 chapters long, and it's all about different LGBTQ+ characters living in the same town and being there for each other. There are some really gut punching quotes in the manga that really helped me as well to relate to the characters, and feel for them. It's just so good. I recommend it. T_T The theme for this week was "All Grown Up", to edit a video about the wonders and struggles of being a child. I interpreted this a bit creatively with the idea of a "coming out" as a teen video. It's different so I'm not sure if it fits how the theme intended, but it was such a good opportunity to showcase this manga. I'd been addicted to Taylor Swift's new album recently so this was made on a whim from that! The video is about Akito from Fruits Basket's depression, abusive behaviours and how they reflect on it (in the later half of the video especially).Had a lot of fun going through the scenes and using fx, but it was a pain working with so many static scenes, x_x couldn't be helped because Akito's scenes are sometimes so static and need panning. Soul of a Dragon [For Amy] xSnowflakes 2022-08-19 | Happy Birthday Amy! I'm so proud of myself, I finished this on the 14th and have put this up to premiere on the day. This video was such a blast to edit, and I'm so happy with the result. This video idea has its origins from lockdown 2020, when Nathan Wagner released this gorgeous song. It took me a bit to connect it with How To Train Your Dragon, but back then I'd never edited a full TRILOGY movie video and the thought of that was overwhelming.Amy had also tried to edit it but we weren't feeling it at the time. I'd also asked if I could edit it instead, and I'd brain noted the idea ever since. I couldn't forget such a perfect match. I started re-watching the trilogy about four weeks ago, made notes of all the moments and quotes on my phone and started editing on Premiere. Phone notes are so useful~ I worked on this slowly since then. Also re-watching the movies gave me the tears and feels and it reminded me how much I love Hiccup and Toothless. T___T Editing this slowly and mindfully reminded me how much I love editing too, sometimes I think about how much I appreciate having this hobby and being able to express my love for a show/series.All in all I loved re-watching, re-appreciating and editing this trilogy video. It doesn't make complete narrative sense but there are enough videos out there that go through chronology haha. The last part of the video can be up to interpretation.. it's either a memory of the past or embracing his "dragon soul" and becoming "one with dragons". 「 AMV 」Living Lie - Ash Lynx xSnowflakes 2022-06-07 | I decided to take part in the All Liver Studio IC again this year, and I really wanted to edit a video with Ash from Banana Fish. I finally watched and finished the series a few weeks ago and really wanted to edit him :c So I'm glad I found a song that fits well. Not all the lyrics fit exactly but the mood was completely what I wanted.I experimented a lot with a new transitions pack and fx and it was great practice for me! Why should I have lived like a fool all these years, that I deserve to live in your shadows, blinded by your light?❞ - JCLast year when I was Arcane obsessed, I randomly put these two ideas together and after it clicked, I couldn't look back.. honestly I couldn't have found a more perfect song that reflects Jiang Cheng and the suffering, jealousy and conflict he feels towards WWX. I also love JC's character a lot, I think he embodies an emotion and frustration that's so believable and relatable. Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian's relationship in MDZS couldn't be more tragic, as estranged siblings, and in my opinion they truly were never meant to be and never will be. Jiang Cheng can never live up to the expectations he thinks others have placed on him, and he will always feel shadowed by Wei's blinding light, and will always lose. A lot of the first half of the video focuses on her external behaviours, then the second half focuses on her trauma and mental state. I added echo to the voice overs to really achieve that tunnel effect/lost hope feeling. Also this video goes deep into trauma behind the "craziness" rather than, "oh she's crazy/insane - and that's her entirely". I'd wanted to do a MXTX tribute for so long and the release date of the MXTX eng novels was a perfect opportunity! I'd started a few but this one was the one that clicked with me the most. This video is nothing special, just showing the main MXTX couples love for each other. I've edited this song twice before for MEPs but never a full. So the video starts off with the two love interests loving the protags. And in the style of MXTX storytelling, towards the end they realise their feelings for the other (hence the beautiful quotes at the beginning, from key parts of the novels T__T. They link so well). The video goes through the stages of mourning and regret for LWJ. The first section is the present, and it goes through scenes from his childhood and an imagined present with Wei (represented by the ethereal effects on WWX). Then the video goes back to his teen years where he gradually fell in love, and when they also gradually fell apart and ended up on opposite sides of the battlefield. He tries to save him, but is forced to watch as WWX is hunted down - and his biggest regrets were not doing more for him in the present.So, this video is a representation of the regret and depression LWJ felt during the 13 years before WWX's return. The title of the AMV is a flip on the title of LWJ's character song (thanks Amy for the idea!).I had a lot of fun learning how to use new effects for this. 「 AMV 」Overdrive - Link Click xSnowflakes 2021-09-26 | I'm so excited to finally finish this video! I started this video when I was obsessively watching Link Click a few months ago. The song randomly clicked with Link Click (pun intended lol) when I was listening to Conan Gray songs (his music is so good), and it was a perfect fit for a video showcasing all the relationships in Link Click. I can't believe I managed to get them all in somehow. This was super fun to edit, and I loved trying new things in Premiere - AE. The song demands fx and I'm glad I managed to push myself to make it look like it kinda did in my head (which rarely happens). I'm so surprised I haven't seen many Conan Gray AMVs, his lyrics are so deep and amazing for editing. I'm glad I managed to edit his music. And Link Click as well, I think it's a lot more popular now and I'm hoping more AMVs will pop up, even though the show is pretty static you can still make it work! I loved Link Click so much, and the second season can't come soon enough - worst cliffhanger ever. I tried to make a 2ha video for you but it was so hard and I considered HOB, then finally settled on this idea._____The combination of The Truth Untold by BTS and Fruits Basket actually has a long history - Amy and I planned a collab back in 2019 (when Amy didn't know the actual "Truth Untold" about Kyo) and she had Kyo parts and I had Yuki. We lost motivation and for me most of all I felt the song doesn't match Yuki in the right way, and was more Kyo's song if including all his angst. Lol the best birthday gifts are when you do the birthday person's work for them. The song is a really beautiful one. It fits Kyo because he had a lot of secrets eating away at him until he finally revealed them to Tohru. The beautiful thing about Fruits Basket is that it's a story about forgiveness and love, and Tohru is so forgiving, which is a rarity these days I feel. The way Tohru forgives and loves Kyo for who he is, is so precious. I experimented a few times with AE and it was a lot of work trying for fix things, and I definitely made it complicated for myself.. I hope the fx don't take away from the heart of the video though. I'll be experimenting more in the future (but definitely slower). [MMV] Fiction - Luo Binghe - Scum Villain Self Saving System xSnowflakes 2021-07-12 | ❝But if Shizun, the only one in this world who holds this kind of hope for me is gone, then what's the point of me being alive, sober and strong?❞A couple of weekends ago I had a ton of inspiration to edit Fiction by Echos with Scum Villain fanart. The song happened to be in the IC pack for an IC back then, and you bet I tried to finish it that weekend -tried and died doing it- I got to about 50 seconds and I clocked/burned out. Since then I haven't been inspired/been burned out so I completed the last few seconds in vegas.. so here is the result. I gained a lot of animating/AE fx and workflow experience while making this video, even though I didn't manage to end it the way I wanted, I'm still happy I got this far..STORY/VIDEO PREMISE:It's probably confusing for those who haven't read the novel, basically I went with the main character (Luo Binghe) going through the lows, highs and heartbreaking memories up until the moment Shen Qingqiu (the other character) falls into a "coma". The beginning quote is the present, and then it goes back to the past. The last few scenes are in the present. I'm so happy I managed to edit a full Scum Villain MMV/fanart video, and hopefully I'll do it again someday ;_; . Why is he allowed to know NOTHING?!❞TW: ViolenceSPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 123-4 of Heaven Official's Blessing (Black Water Arc) (seriously don't watch this if you want to read it o_o) This video was born out of 1) extreme angsting over the Black Water arc of the HOB/TGCF novel 2) A desire to practice using the puppet tool in AE. 3) Practice MMV FX again..I love Shi Qingxuan so so much, he's one of my top 5 characters in HOB. I'm nearing the end of the novel right now and that's still the case :') . The Black Water arc really had an impact on me, and this part of "Heavy in your arms" by Florence is so so perfect for Shi Qingxuan - He Xuan angst. The way the arc unfolded was honestly masterful. I don't really ship them so I wanted to keep that possibility out of the video. But, there are signs that he definitely doesn't hate Shi Qingxuan as much as he wants to - and I acknowledge that :D This was really fun to put together bit by bit, I'd animate one thing every night and slowly put it together. I wish I had more sources to use, and that the manhua had more, but oh well - I used what I could, for now. Take The Streets ◇Six of Crows MV◇ xSnowflakes 2021-04-25 | I'm so excited about the release of the new Netflix adaption of the Grisha trilogy and Six of Crows duology.. I just had to edit it. I binged most of the series yesterday while putting clips down and finished it while finishing this. I've had this combination idea for a while and it honestly worked so perfectly from clip 1. Everything in the show was so amazing, I still can't get over how perfect their casting was. The crows especially are all superb. I'm also very very pleased that they spread out the Six of Crows storyline and did their own thing, while keeping some very important lines from the original book in the show. Everything they did with the storyline felt so canon, believable and true to character. Even milo felt canon lol.This video is basically a fun edit with all the Crows. Nina and Matthias, not yet being part of the crew have their own sections though because.. I can't not. I loved Nina and Matthias, and I totally want to edit a video with just them someday. T__T . [AMV] To Die For - Re:Zero xSnowflakes 2021-04-13 | -SPOILERS in video for Re;Zero Season 2-So happy to finally finish this. I got the idea for this combination (Devotion by Hurts with Re:Zero) about two years ago, and my sources told me of the good Emilia stuff to come. :') The new season did amazing things with Emilia's character development (and everyone else for that matter), and I'm so excited to have used the new scenes. To be honest I struggled a lot with the middle sections because I didn't want Emilia to look like a damsel in distress, but I think I showed how strong she becomes and how she fights her struggles? I hope so anyway. I also used some After Effects plug-ins and motion, which was pretty good practice~The AMV basically follows Subaru X Emilia's relationship, from the moment Subaru meets her. Subaru's treatment and "vision" of her gradually improves while fighting his own struggles and hardships (like what happens over the course of Season 1-2, lol), and eventually Emilia also fights her inner demons and becomes willing to accept him, too.Random trivia - I got the naming idea for this video as a flip from my last Re:Zero video - which is named Devotion, while using the song Somebody to Die For by Hurts. [AMV] Demonic Duo xSnowflakes 2020-11-19 | So this was made for Project Org Round 6, under the theme of Dynamic Duo, or a team up of two characters to defeat common enemies. I originally had another idea planned, but decided it was far too abstract and not focused enough, so I switched to Kuroshitsuji two days ago and edited an insane amount in an insane amount of time. *dies inside* Was pretty fun to edit though!Ciel and Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji definitely fit this theme. The entire series is formed on the temporary partnership between these characters, for Ciel's quest for revenge. The entire series wouldn't exist, if not for this partnership. The video shows them fighting and defeating their enemies one by one, and then Sebastian taking his part of the deal at the end. Enjoy the murder and destruction in this video! Because you know, Spider-man suit, and webbers. I am SO glad I did.I had such an amazing time editing this, I was bopping away, and I don't remember the last time I had this much fun editing something.. the film is gloriously beautiful to edit to. [AMV] Brightest Spark xSnowflakes 2020-11-05 | This was my video for AMV Project Org Round 4. The theme for this round was life lessons/learning through adventure - and I went deep and went for a literal life's growth and journey through editing Maquia. I watched this film last weekend to edit this round, I'm so happy I did because it was such a good film T__T Really tugged at my heartstrings.The song by Sleeping at Last, is actually about the meaning of Joy and interpretations of it. So, I thought it was the perfect song to edit this round. So glad I finally edited a full with them, they're such a great band. Windswept {FF7 GMV} {collab w/ Kaeldri} {For Laura} xSnowflakes 2020-10-09 | It's done! I'm so so happy with how this turned out T__T This is dedicated to Laura, sorry this is so late T____T , it was intended to be uploaded on your birthday! (Though Amy was on time, I've just been useless with editing recently haha). Happy late birthday, we hope you enjoy this and we end with the (best) ship for you . Though we know you love both of them! When this song popped up in an IC pack over the summer, I instantly had the idea of matching it with Cloud. The song itself is about vulnerability and although about lovers not feeling the same way about each other (I literally found this out just now lol), I thought the song's strongest parts are really raw and are a great representation of Cloud's mental state. I edited the Aerith main parts, and my collab partner edited Tifa main. My parts were focused on how Aerith bursting into Cloud's life, made a positive difference to Cloud's mental state and trauma recovery, and though he loses her he eventually learns to love and carry on. Amy (Kaeldri) did incredible with her parts, and every time she churned out a part, it was a dash of inspiration. T___T She also edited TifaXCloud with so much heart, and did more of the collab than me actually. Here to Stay {Fruits Basket AMV} {Remake} xSnowflakes 2020-09-07 | A few weeks ago I participated in the Reboot IC hosted by AMVNL, it was a creative opportunity to redo an old amv and give it an "upgrade". So, I decided to literally give one of my old AMVs a visual upgrade. LOL. I can't believe its already been 5 years since I edited the original secret santa video. And I never could have imagined editing it again with a new reboot of the series. I'm so happy with the anime remake so far T___T . This was challenging to edit because I just constantly kept going back to the original. It was hard, because I actually really liked how the original version turned out. I also initially planned to make it longer but literally scrapped that ambition last minute so my timeline looks like an explosion (lol), but luckily I made it in time with the original cut. I also made some small edits for this final version too. My next Fruits Basket videos are going to be a bit more ambitious I think. [AMV] Hikari xSnowflakes 2020-08-02 | A short video I edited for the Indigo IC last weekend. I spent some time changing and fixing things (which took longer than I thought, I appreciate my main editing comp so much more now x.x ) a few things still bug me but I curse these hour long rendering times. I'm surprised I ended up editing this song, I had ideas with a few others but I realised that this idea clicked more last minute. Basic premise is how Hina brought hope and light to Rei's life. I've been dying to edit a Hina X Rei thing and glad I finally did! (Also.. I'm amused at how this is basically the sequel to my Skin and Bone video xD). [AMV] Touch It xSnowflakes 2020-04-10 | This was a short video I did in roughly 3 days for an IC hosted by ARIA. I actually fixed up some things after the allocated 3 day allowance so I'm labeling this as a full instead :P. The IC was super chilled, we could start at any point in the week, and everyone suggested a song. I went with a song someone else suggested after deliberation. So happy I could use Bloom Into You - its a romance series I really enjoyed watching. I love how complex it is. :D Story of this video is - orange head (Yuu) is being used by black head (Touko), and in the end Yuu leaves her because she's falling in love, which she didn't want. Touko regrets that she took her for granted. [AMV] Fools Pride xSnowflakes 2020-03-08 | It's done! This was my entry for Souls Team IC this year. The only time I edit fun is for contests or ICs, I swear, but this was super fun to make. I actually challenged myself and used Adobe Premiere a bit, so it was a nice learning curve for me too. I switched a few scenes round and did some more masking for this final version. I wish I had more time to make fancy effects but at the same time, I like how I kept it raw. The anime itself has so many glorious scenes to edit and play around with, and most of the time it does the flow job for you. Was so nice editing a full video for this series too - it made me laugh so much, and I can't wait for the new season. [IS] Crashing {Fruits Basket AMV} xSnowflakes 2019-09-07 | I'm so excited to finally finish this video. I actually started this a few months ago, after I heard the song in our IS Summer IC song pack, and thought it was perfect for Fruits Basket. If I wasn't a judge, I totally would have tried to finish it for the IC. BUT, I'm glad I didn't, because I finally had all the scenes I wanted after the latest episode aired. The video is a simple edit, and a simple "introduction" to Fruits Basket. I didn't want to make it too complicated. I'm really excited about seeing some future episodes, and will definitely be making more videos (but much, much darker next time).
