Survival in a tropical rainforest brings its own unique survival challenges. This week I'm spending 5 days hammock camping on a tropical island without any food. Everything I eat will have to come from the jungle or the sea and the only means of gathering food I brought is a pole spear and knowledge of the local landscape. Rough seas make spearfishing a challenge but luckily there's a variety of wild plant foods as well as land crabs, iguanas, etc. Fresh water is always a challenge in these locations so, aside from catching rainwater, I bushcraft a system to distill drinking water from seawater. Other survival skills demonstrated are making natural cordage from snake grass, bushcraft cooking over a fire, catch clean cook fishing, and making a bamboo bow and arrows from local materials.
