Locomotive cabride from the port of Koper to Ljubljana was created along the most important railway lines in Slovenia, railway line Divača - Koper and Ljubljana - Sežana (Italy). These two railway lanes are very busy with a huge number of freight trains. Trains that use this route mainly transit from the Adriatic sea to Central Europe and back. This cab ride video created from a SŽ 541 locomotive which was pulling 28 wagons freight train from port of Koper to Austria. Detailed train and route informations are shown in the video. These informations include current location, maximum allowed train speed, limit speed, slow order speed, track altitude and other relevant informations.

Driving a train from the engine drivers perspective. A few special angles of view to the operations performed by the locomotive driver while driving the passenger train. Preparation for departure, starting the drive, throttle controller for choosing the traction force (selection of current and voltage of traction motors), preparation for braking, direct and indirect train braking process and stopping the train at railway stops and stations.
The ride takes place in locomotive cab of an old diode rectifier locomotive with a voltage selector, and the old throttle manipulator. The throttle manipulator is kind of gas steering wheel for determining the strength of the current on the locomotives traction motors, which actually represents the traction force. There are also old Erlikon brake levers for train and locomotive brakes.

Welcome to the old ASEA ŽRS 441-114 locomotive and its old locomotive cab.
The driver handling the direct brake lever to gradually reduce the locomotive speed in order to approach the train carefully.
Adding traction force to push the bumpers harder and make coupling operations easier. With indirect train brake, it releases air from the main air line to keep the locomotive braked. Shutting down the traction motors rectifier fans, compressor and main switch as preparation for changing the cab and driving direction. There is only one direction lever in these locomotives
and it must be carried out into another cab and used as a cab key to ride.
The video continues from Prisoje station, instead of from Doboj, due to the better light and greater ride dynamics.

Adjusting the limited speed of 30 km/h until the train goes over the switches.
Increasing the current of traction motors and traction force, while accelerating to a maximum speed of 70 km/h.
Around 1000 A current of the traction motors and the train of 2 wagons accelerates very easily.
Final fine-tuning of current size to maintain traction force for a constant speed of 70km/h.
It takes some time to keep a constant movement speed of 70 km/h for a while. A little under 500 A is enough for now.
Soon the train has to be braked due to the passenger train stop.
Handling with indirect train brake handle lever in order to gradually brake and stop the train.
Releasing the brakes, locomotive brake releasing and something not recommended to do while braking, handling the throttle...
The locomotive brakes holds the train braked until the train conductor approves the departure.
The train conductor signaled Departure - the foot switch can be used for locomotive horn.
Indicators, viewed from left to right: 1) Manometer gauge for the air pressure in the main air line and in the locomotive main tank.
2) Manometer gauge for air pressure in locomotive brake cylinders
3) Traction motors ammeter (around 400 A is set to maintain the amount of traction force to keep the speed of 70 km/h)
4) Ammeter for the difference in traction motor current sizes (in order to have an insight into possible locomotive wheelslip)
5) The voltage level of the locomotives accumulator batteries.
Operating with throttle manipulator is operating with voltage selector device. The voltage selector is a large device in the locomotive engine room, in direct connection with the main transformer. The main transformer lowers the 25 kV to a value suitable for the operation of other locomotive devices and traction motors. The main transformer and the voltage selector use the same transformer oil for cooling. The oil is additionally heated in the voltage selector because it is used to extinguish
current arcs while switching from one voltage level to another. Frequent manipulation of the voltage selector heats up the transformer oil and this is one of the reasons why it is not recommended to move the throttle manipulator too often.

This rail traffic video shows the small segment of railway traffic in Serbia, at main north corridor railway line, between Novi Sad and Subotica, at train station Naumovićevo. There are different passenger and freight trains that could be seen on Serbian Railways. Freight trains are mainly from international cargo traffic between Central and Eastern Europe (Budapest Ferencvaros) and Southeast Europe (Balkans; Turkey, Bulgaria, Greece...).
This is one of the typical train stations which is not in the telecommand remote traffic management system. It is controlled locally, by local station train dispatcher. This local train dispatcher is like a station master, which manages train traffic in the area of its station and between its and nearby stations. Some segments of this movie, next to the trains, show local train dispatcher work place, track control panel and track switches turning. In the usual railway station, where trains moving slowly due to the generally poor condition of the tracks, details like track switches turning, railroad crossing devices and the appearance of interesting railway vehicles, make the whole movie more interesting.

Fast train - rail - wheel sounds of 63 freight and 109 passenger trains at HU western line. Railway traffic in Hungary always offers something interesting. The main railway line from Budapest to Vienna and western Hungary is mainholder of various freight and passenger trains. Almost all rail stations between Budapest, Győr and Hegyeshalom have a shelter places that have parts with little bad track joints and switches which produce old known train - rail - wheel sounds.
This video was supposed to be a classic video that presents rail traffic of freight and passenger trains in Hungary, at Western main railway line (Budapest - Hegyeshalom - Rajka vasútvonal). During the recording and collecting materials there were scenes of trains passing that produced really nice sounds of rattling wheels on the rails. Thats when the idea of editing a video like this came up.
The video shows 63 freight, 109 passenger and 7 locomotive trains of various operators. On this line, trains runs at speeds up to 160 km/h. Freight trains runs up to 100km/h. In combination with the old tracks, slightly worse parts on the tracks, track switches and rail joint gaps, a very nice and interesting sounds were obtained.
For video creation purposes almost all stations and interesting scenes along the 200km long railway line were recorded. Extraordinary and unusual sounds appeared at the rail track junctions in the area of Győrszentiván and Győr-Gyárváros stations. There are views of the windmill field, the riverside and the Danube river bank near Komárom, the old railway bridge on the river Rába near Győr, interesting scenes at railroad level crossings and night scenes at Hungary - Austria border train station for the end. There are also train announcements and announcements of the danger of passing trains.
The recording was done during two separate visits to this railway line, at July and August 2021.

These freight trains and late fall scenes represent a short story about railway transport in Eastern Serbia. This transport is mainly based on the copper ores concentrate and some transportation of sulfuric and hydrochloric acid between the chemical industries. As Serbia does not have enough diesel locomotives series 661, which are mainly used for freight trains traction on non-electrified lines, some Slovenian locomotives series 664 have been leased for this transport.

Locomotives series 661 and series 664 are class of diesel locomotives operated by Yugoslav Railways. They are an General Motors (GM-EMD models) types EMD G16 and EMD G26. In several scenes in the video locomotives make the very strong and powerful diesel engine operating sounds, while the freight trains accelerate. There are also recognizable and nice powerful diesel locomotives horn sounds. The beauties of nature and rail tracks covered with leaves complete the scenes of late autumn on the railway.
