A magnitude 4.5 earthquake hit western Greece on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 10:46 a.m. local time (07:46 UTC), about 10 km south of Agrinio and 46 km northwest of Patras. A second mid-4s shock followed about one minute later near Aitoliko and the Messolonghi lagoon. Depth reports range from about 5–18 km. Seismologist Efthymios Lekkas said there is no reason for concern and more tremors up to about 4.5 are possible on the local Ozeros fault zone. No damage or injuries were reported in early accounts.
