36 Birthday Party
1
This is the saddest Story,
That you may ever hear,
So, I suggest you stop reading now,
Lest you are struck with an icy cold tear.
2
Mark Sparks was a poor misbehaving student,
In my wife’s third grade class,
With ragged clothes and dirty face,
And no hope that he would pass.
3
With no friends for him to lean on,
And his parents not always around,
He lived in a rundown house,
Four miles out of town.
4
But one day Mark’s demeanor changed,
He passed out Birthday invitations all day,
He laughed aloud as he listed Ice Cream, and cake,
And games that they would play
5
The next day Mark brought a map,
That his mother had made for him,
With directions to his house,
And when the party would begin.
6
Saturday was party day,
And Mark waited on the porch,
His mother wondered if there was room to park,
And his Dad Lit a Tiki Torch.
7
On Monday the teacher asked,
“Mark, who won the tail on the donkey game?”
Mark, with a tear replied,
“Teacher, nobody came.”
