27 The Old Library
The demon
1
I was out of the Army,
And finally back at school.
With a more focused mindset now,
I was back at ISU.
2
Whatever it was that dimmed my light,
During my first eight-thousand days,
Had slowly lost its grip,
And then had finally gone away.
3
I suspect the demon has a name now,
Like hyperactive, or ADHD,
Or maybe even Dyslexia,
But it had lost its hold on me.
4
I first realized this freedom,
As I walked through the glass doors,
I was heading to a cubical,
Behind the stacks, on the forth floor.
5
Again I was going,
To my favorite place,
It was quiet but alive there,
With the discoveries of the human race.
6
Sure, I’d do all my lessons,
But then strike out on my own,
Anything you wanted,
What was the Rosetta Stone?
7
I even read about the demons,
Learning that they often go away,
But I never learned his real name,
And don’t know it to this day.
