28 Chasing Enemies
Crushing the Kamikaze
1
It was about 1977,
The summer was hot and hard,
But no excuses on this day,
As I was working in the yard.
2
As I hit the power on the Snapper,
And pulled the throttle back,
The enemy all formed up,
For their sneak attack.
3
Being a seasoned warrior,
I dove headfirst for the ground,
Landing on my hands and arms,
I bravely looked around.
4
A squadron of Kamikaze,
I realized with a gasp,
Had broken my defenses,
Disguised as common wasps.
5
Recon soon reported,
That their bases were in the eaves,
Intricate fortifications,
Made from sawdust and leaves.
6
I selected my weapons carefully,
To go where hero’s dare,
Gasoline for the bases,
And newspaper for the air.
7
I went on to victory,
A true warrior’s dream,
But my Sunday paper was all torn up,
And the house smelled like Gasoline.
