Lawyer Shlomo is on a trip to a city in the desert, driving by Jericho which he is not allowed to enter. It is under Palestinian authority and part of "area A" of the West Bank.

Johnny is the chef at the Legacy hotel's restaurant, where he mixes Arab and Western influences in his dishes, like shrimp falafel. He spends his spare time at the Syrian Orthodox Christian Scouts group where they keep traditions from the time of the British mandate alive, like playing the bagpipe.

Samia is a realtor for high-class real estate in Jerusalem. Many of her customers are from abroad, like employees of the UN or NGOs, journalists and diplomats.

A group of house squatters who protest against the housing shortage in Jerusalem, enter the former home of politician Golda Meir. A family seems to live in the abandoned house.

Abu Isan visits the ruins of the village Lifta, where he used to live as a young boy. His family had to flee in the war in 1948 and were barred from returning, the land fell to Israel.

US photographer Jim is monitoring a demonstration at the Damascus Gate, the northern entrance to the old city. He always carries a gas mask with him, in case the protest becomes violent and the police uses tear gas.
