On the last leg of his journey, Jan Leyers travels to Belgium and the Netherlands. His first meeting is with Nurdeen Wildeman in Utrecht, a convert and strong opinion maker.

Jan visits the Avicenna college in Rotterdam, an Islamic high school, where he talks to the Islam teacher Mustapha Benchikhi. He asks him what, in his opinion, constitutes the "true Islam". The school's director Richard Troost himself is not a Muslim, but more of an atheist.

Jan in conversation with Okay Pala, spokesman for Hizb-ut-Tahrir The Netherlands. His organization strives for an Islamic state, a caliphate that unites all Muslims as a political entity.

During the annual Medina expo, that displays products inspired by Islam, Jan is acquainted with the Cools family from Flanders. All of them converted to Islam after the daughter fell in love with a Muslim. Another mother tells the story of how her son became radicalized and went to Syria.

On a terrace in Molenbeek, he sits down with radicalization expert Montasser AlDe'emeh. Later they visit a school in Brussels where students are afraid of being punished by Allah if they behave badly.

Jan talks with Ahmed Alaoui, an Islam teacher in Brussels who encourages his students to use their brains when reading and interpreting Koran.

What is the future of Islam in Europe? How hopeful can we be on an European, enlightened version of Islam? Is that something Muslims themselves actually want? And will it be possible to overcome the Europeans’ distrust of Islam?

Jan Leyers goes in search of answers. He heads off to Sarajevo, Budapest, Vienna, Hamburg, Paris, London, Copenhagen and Malmö. He listens to the voice of experts and the word on the street and talks with religious men and women, with ex-believers and new converts. What do they hope for and what are their concerns? In this series, Jan stays true to his style: nuanced and respectful, without shying away from controversy.
