The new Range Rover Electric is here with 542 horsepower, 333 miles of Environmental Protection Agency rated range, and serious off road capability.
Starting at $138,000 in the United States, this is the first fully electric Range Rover in the model's 56 year history.
Power comes from 2 permanent magnet electric motors producing a combined 542 horsepower and 627 pound feet of torque, allowing the luxury sport utility vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in as little as 4.3 seconds.
A massive 118.5 kilowatt hour lithium ion battery and 800 volt electrical architecture give the Range Rover Electric up to 333 miles of estimated driving range. Connect it to a compatible 350 kilowatt direct current fast charger and Range Rover says charging from 10 percent to 80 percent takes around 22 minutes.
Going electric has not eliminated the capability expected from a Range Rover. Integrated Traction Management can rapidly respond to changing grip, while Single Pedal driving helps the vehicle tackle steep climbs and descents. It can even wade through water up to 35 inches deep.
The Range Rover Electric will be offered in short wheelbase and long wheelbase configurations, with SE, Autobiography, SV, SV Black, SV Ultra, and First Edition versions available. North American models also feature built in North American Charging Standard compatibility for access to Tesla's Supercharger network.
