Ford has just revealed the final performance stats for the Mustang GTD, and they go beyond what anyone expected. The car packs a serious punch with its 5.2-liter V-8 engine, now supercharged to churn out a massive 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. That makes it the most powerful Mustang ever produced.

A few key upgrades are responsible for these numbers. Ford engineers gave the GTD a smaller supercharger pulley and modified both the intake and exhaust systems. For the first time in Mustang history, it’s equipped with a dry-sump oil system, which increases the engine’s peak revolutions per minute to 7,650—100 RPM higher than before.

The Mustang GTD also boasts nearly perfect weight balance. It achieves a 50-50 ratio thanks to an eight-speed, dual-clutch transaxle placed at the rear. The engine’s power is transmitted to the wheels via a carbon-fiber driveshaft, and the semi-active rear inboard pushrod suspension ensures a smooth, controlled ride. Up front, it features a short-long arm suspension layout.

To keep the weight low, Ford used carbon fiber extensively across the car. The hood, roof, trunk lid, and rear diffuser are all made from this lightweight material. For those seeking extra performance, an optional package adds aerodynamic features like dive planes, a larger splitter, and drag reduction tech. Ford even offers lightweight magnesium wheels for the ultimate setup.

The starting price is steep, at $325,000, but it hasn’t deterred interest. Over 7,500 applications rolled in within just a month, showing just how excited people are for this next-level Mustang.
