Meet April 2022's Artist-in-Residence, Leah Silva!
Leah Silva is a dance adjudicator and instructor, choreographer, artistic director, producer, and performer from Southern California. She has a technique driven and dynamic teaching style that has helped her students achieve top placements at competitions around the world. She is the founder and artistic director of Reverb Production Company, and she has choreographed for the Emmy Awards and other film festivals, concerts, and events.
In her residency at Zion, Leah hopes to channel the expressive form of dance to create a piece of work that captures the unique character of the canyon. “I hope to explore the connection between nature and humanity in music and texture,” said Silva. “While knowing humanity is so deeply rooted into Mother Nature, I want to develop the musical connection and representation to this very specific space.” She is looking forward to the awareness and intimate connection that comes from immersing herself in a space with her art.
