My last Major League Eating contest of the season took place in Lewisville, Texas outside of Dallas at the Western Days Festival.
This was an extremely fun contest with great crowd presence, delicious food (2 oz. Market Street Pork Tamales) and a stacked lineup! Darron Breeden took the stage to defend his world record of 70 tamales in 10 minutes set at the 2018 contest. I had the pleasure of eating in between my friends Katie Prettyman and Michelle Lesco for my first appearance in the tamale discipline.
Big thank you to Greg "Savage" Wilson for picking me up from the airport and to John Gebhard for dropping me off back at the airport. And huge thank you to Mike Sullivan for A+ emcee duties! Check out his podcast on all things competitive eating, Fink Beats The Stomach.

![2020 Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest Des Moines Qualifier
On August 10 2019, I took a trip to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines to compete in the Nathans Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest regional qualifier! This was my first attempt to punch my ticket to Coney Island to qualify for the Nathans Finals on July 4, 2020.
The womens division boasted #35 Sophia DeVita, Rene Rovtar, and Michelle Severin, all competing for 1 berth in the womens contest and the mens contest consisted of yours truly, The Branimal facing off against my buddy #34 Derek Hendrickson AKA Heavy D. Derek was coming off of a great performance at a rib eating contest and hungry to make a splash at his third Nathans qualifier; my 4th qualifier.
Due to a fantastic crowd, great quality hot dogs, and fierce competition, multiple PRs were set in a very tight race!
Big thank you to Bardog Tavern for making my trip possible: https://www.bardog.com/

![Tom and Chee Redux Challenge
Since we were going to Nashville for the Lions vs. Titans game in December, I snuck in a small, quick challenge on the way into town. Ive actually done this one waaaaay back when I was just getting started! So this was a nice revisit to see how far Ive come in 4 years of competitive eating.
Original Attempt:

The Tom + Chee Bakers Dozen Challenge is pretty straightfoward. They service grilled cheese donuts, as a flagship item there. They cut a glazed donut in half, put the cut sides facing outward, and in the middle, they put a pile of cheddar cheese! Challengers must eat twelve of these PLUS one specialty grilled cheese donut (I chose Banana-Rama) in ten short minutes! If successful, the $50 meal is free, you get a t-shirt (or choice of hat in this case) and eternal glory!
