Total Eclipse of the Heart... err... I mean... the sun! Taken from the intersection of Broadway Avenue & Cache Street; SW corner looking ENE-- this is a lateral view of a total solar eclipse, as it would appear looking at reflected sunlight & shadows disappear on buildings & the ground.
This is a different and interesting perspective, as most of the time the media shows you filtered video of the moon's disc passing in front of the sun, against a black background; without any reference to surrounding ground features, that most of us would be familiar with.
ALSO: At 5m:15s in, the video time stamps in the pictures of the "color hue" discussion are wrong. Should be 2m:07s for the picture on the left, and 4m:27s for the picture on the right. Sorry about that.
My thanks to the Jackson Hole, WY tourism bureau for providing us with these live cameras, and the opportunity to capture this rare and unique moment.
The YouTube link to the camera in this view has since changed... and always seems to change from year to year. The latest one as of now is:
