I'm just curious to know who is subbed to my channel and why. Everyone has channels in their subscription list that they can no longer remember subscribing to. And we all have channels we've subscribed to that we don't hear from. And I'm sure that if I went and clicked on every channel that is subscribed to me there would be some that are no longer active.
The numbers game on YouTube doesn't add up to much when the numbers are low, and as you'll see from this video numbers aren't my strong point anyway. I'm not numerically illiterate, but I can tend to say the first number that pops into my head sometimes!
I don't post a lot, and I don't post often. That makes me curious to know why people sub to my channel. I've had copyright notices on a few music videos I've uploaded. When that happens I just take them down. Some of the other music videos have been included on the artists own pages. Boy George had the Mark Ronson video up on his own channel for a while. Delta Spirit put theirs up on their blog (love that track!). Raghu Dixit put it up on his channel too and I had a nice email from his manager thanking me for posting it, it meant that his Indian fans got to see it.
I put up some songs from a band I was in myself (Ralph Alpha) that I thought the world might like to hear. The world, it seems, didn't agree with me! ;¬)
I put up some recordings from the late great Irish actor John Molloy and his son thanked me. That was really cool. Music and it's rights etc, is a very touchy subject, but personally I think it's no less public than having it played on the radio. The ready availability of digital music hasn't stopped me buying new music. If anything it has resulted in me buying even more. I'm discovering new music more often now than I ever have in the past.
I want to keep posting music, but the truth is, that the more of my own content I put up, the more wary I am of risking having my channel closed for copyright reasons. Yet I don't want to have to set up multiple channels and keep track of all that. Who needs the hassle!
So, expect less music and more atheist related content from now on. I'm still adding to my Music playlists (there's a 200 vid limit, that's why there's a Music 2), so keep checking them out.
On the atheist side of things, I'm part of a group here in Ireland that are currently trying to get ourselves excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church. They changed Canon Law last year to make it impossible to officially defect from the church. That way they can still count me as a member. Something that gets right up my nose. More on that coming up...
