There are modules available on Ebay that for about $10 to $18 claim to be complete frequency counter modules capable of covering 100Khz to 2.4Ghz! I bought one of these units and cobbled together this simple project. A box, 12 v "wall wart" style power block, switch, power jack and input jack is all that is needed for parts. Then a few hours of you time to fabricate.
In the video I give you a look outside and inside of the unit, then I test it! It is a capable unit.
