We beat the New York Giants on September 14th a noon, Texas time. Our next game is against Chicago Bears, at Soldier field, on September 21st. Meaning: We have 7 days to drive 1000 miles.
(Our route took us through Oklahoma where we saw a sign on the side of the interstate:
"Hitch hikers may be escaping inmates."
...
On the other side of the road was a massive prison. I wonder what happened, and how many times it happened, before they put that sign up.
Anyway.)
We decided to spend two nights on Lake Ozark. This proved to be a good choice. Spending two nights anywhere is great for us, because it means there is a full day without any driving. We decided to spend that day swimming in the lake and admiring the beautiful properties. It was awesome.
And so: We arrived in Chicago very well rested. We did the river walk (A+), we ate Chicago deep dish pizza (B+) and even checked out the bean (Solid B despite our C- expectations).
In the end: My wife and daughter and I are traveling city to city, taking care of business, facing the unknown head on... as such, we feel like we are part of the team. This is going to flavor our weekly predictions moving forward.
This week's prediction is the Cowboys start fast and pull out to an early lead, say 17-3. The Bears put a valiant effort forward to mount a comeback, but fall short, and the Boys win by 1 score.
(BTW I'd be a slot receiver... think Cole Beasley with bad hands, no agility, overweight with a bad knee)
